Audio Legacy Interviews
Audio Legacy Interviews: Preserving Your Family's Stories in Their Own Words
Every family holds a library of stories: moments of wisdom, humor, love, and resilience passed down through generations. Too often, those stories live only in memory, at risk of being lost. That's why we believe in the simple power of recording them, and why an audio legacy interview has become one of the most approachable ways for families across San Rafael, Marin County, and the greater Bay Area to begin preserving a legacy.
What Is an Audio Legacy Interview?
An audio legacy interview is a recorded, one-on-one conversation between your loved one and an interviewer, guided by thoughtful questions about their life, their memories, and the lessons they'd want to pass down. The result is a polished audio recording, edited for clarity and warmth, that your family can listen to, revisit, and share for generations.
It's one of the most affordable ways to begin preserving a legacy, and it works well for families who want something meaningful without the scope of a full film production.
Why Voice Matters
There's something timeless and intimate about hearing a loved one tell their own story: the laughter, the pauses, the emotion between the words. It feels personal in a way no transcript or photograph can fully hold. Years from now, it won't just be what they said that matters. It will be how they said it.
Our Process
Before we ever turn on a microphone, we take time to get to know the person being interviewed. Understanding their background, their favorite stories, and their personality helps us create space for a natural, comfortable conversation. We do this through Zoom, a phone call, or an in-person pre-interview conversation, whichever feels most comfortable.
From there, we guide them through a relaxed, recorded dialogue where memories unfold in their own words, either in person at our San Rafael studio or wherever they're most at ease. We handle the technical details so the final product is polished yet authentic. What you receive is a keepsake: something to listen to, revisit, and share with family for years to come.
A visit to our studio, or our visit to your home, will typically last about 2 hours. A week later, you will have clean, polished audio, and a keepsake USB drive with an MP3 of your recording. We’ll also set up a Google Drive folder where you will find your recordings, invoice, and other documents relating to the project.
More Than Audio
For families who want something even more immersive, we also create Family Legacy Films, fully produced documentaries that weave together archival footage, photos, home videos, and cinematic interviews. And when a loved one is no longer with us, we can craft Memorial Videos that honor their life with depth and care.
What Does an Audio Legacy Interview Cost?
