Honoring Voices, Building Connections: Our First Intergenerational Podcast Training
On Saturday, September 6th, 2025, Sound Legacy and Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly (LBFE) held our first volunteer training for the Intergenerational Podcast Project. The room was filled with curiosity, compassion, and excitement as three young people came together to learn the art of podcasting with purpose.
These volunteers—empathetic, intelligent, and passionate about storytelling—spent the day
diving into:
Deep Listening: learning how to make an elder feel truly seen, heard, understood, and valued.
Interviewing for Storytelling: transforming closed-ended questions into invitations for wisdom and reflection.
Recording & Production: gaining confidence with microphones, sound, and editing.
This training marks the beginning of a pilot program that will produce two podcast
episodes, each featuring a conversation between an elder and a youth volunteer. Together,
they will preserve not just memories, but the lore and wisdom of older generations,
strengthening the pact between community and its elders.
LBFE’s mission is “reducing isolation and creating connections for older adults.” Sound
Legacy’s guiding words are “Your story. Your voice.” This partnership is a living expression of
both missions—building bridges through story, voice, and listening.
We are deeply grateful to our volunteers for their energy and commitment. This is just the
beginning of a project we hope will grow, carrying more voices forward, preserving stories,
and weaving stronger intergenerational bonds.
